specifically regarding the use of one of the images on a Conde Nast magazine cover.

The foundation had claimed that the images qualified as "fair use" under federal copyright law, as they transformed Lynn Goldsmith's 1981 portrait of Prince.

This Supreme Court decision might impose new requirements on creators of derivative works,

potentially leading to a greater likelihood of obtaining a license before selling their creations.
